There were reports earlier this week that some players wanted to change their vote and the Madden NFL 23 Players Association declined their request. His abilities to rush the passer made him a first-round prospect however, there are some questions that he'll need tackle as a professional. His game is built on his athleticism, however an average performance during the Madden NFL 23 Combine suggests that he's not able to compete against an improved group of offensive linemen, especially in professional leagues. Madden NFL 23 Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah may have said that he knows the best when it comes to Barnett's future.
"(Barnett) isn't equipped with his elite burst or that explosiveness that you'd love to have in an edge-rusher," he told the Move the Sticks podcast. "I was with Terrell Suggs for a while with the Ravens, and he's another one who didn't do well. But man, he was plenty fast enough when you got onto the football field. I'm sure you'll see some similar characteristics with Barnett. I don't think he's at the Suggs level, but I think there's a great chance to be a double digit sack player at the next level."
One saving grace is his performances against SEC competitors.
