The company has OSRS gold registered two trademarks within the UK and in the US, one in the name of "OSRS Gold" and another that is for "RS Gold" and noting that the company registered the usage of the words as words. This will likely stop third-party sites from being able to advertise that they sell RS Gold.
A quick Google search of either term will bring up a myriad of websites, many of them with one of these terms in their URL, that offer money in RuneScape to exchange real money. The announcement came on Wednesday, October 13, that Jagex had put an end with "real-world trade". In a blog post on its blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold purchased through RWT real world trading can be a problem in any online game with a trading currency."
Jagex announces that it will have to send "messages to players that we've identified who are involved to engage in the RWT" within "the next few hours". "For anyone who was involved, we'd like to be clear - this is the one and only warning," the company added.
Also announced was the news it was going to be a PvP mode, Duel Arena, would be subject to sweeping changes which include the tighter enforcement of game's code of conduct, to encourage positive playing. Jagex states that Duel Arena "has been a catalyst for this type of behavior".
However, prior to cheap RS gold that the publisher's "short-term measures" will be implemented "until our development teams are able complete a major overhaul that fully replaces the Duel Arena next year."
